Housing Affordability Index

The Housing Affordability Index measures whether or not a typical family earns enough income to qualify for a mortgage loan on a typical home.

-4.3%
Though rebounding from cyclical lows, home sales are stuck because interest rates have not made any major moves. In March 2024, sales fell in the Midwest, South, and West, but rose in the Northeast for the first time since November 2023. Year-over-year, sales decreased in all regions.

Pending Home Sales

+1.6%
Pending home sales grew 1.6% in February 2024. The Midwest and South posted monthly gains in transactions while the Northeast and West recorded losses. All four U.S. regions registered year-over-year decreases.
