US Vacation Home Counties

The majority of homebuyers purchase a property to use as primary residence, but some buyers also purchase a vacation home for family use, to rent out, for equity gain, or to use as a primary residence during retirement. This study identifies vacation destination counties, the most and least expensive vacation destination counties, and who can afford to buy second homes.

This is a revised report that shows higher median prices in the Nantucket, Dukes, and Barnstable counties of Massachusetts than the figures reported in the October 10 release. The revised figures take into account quitclaim deeds which are based on English laws and that are commonly used in Massachusetts.

All statistics and analysis in this report should be attributed to the National Association of REALTORS®. The prices cited in this report may vary from price information released by local MLS or boards which take into account special local practices, and so local information supersedes what NAR releases.
