On May 16, 2018 at the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings and Trade Expo in Washington, D.C., the Risk Management Issues Committee presented an educational session titled “Cybersecurity 101: Protection is Power”. The program featured a panel discussion devoted to educating real estate professionals about the best practices for protecting the brokerage and its information from cyber attacks. The panel included: Jacqueline Connor, Attorney, Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection; Jeff Barnett, Vice President, Regional Manager, Alain Pinel Realtors®, Los Gatos; Mark Lesswing, NAR Chief Technology Officer; and Jenifer White Visek, Vice President, Cyber, Tech E&O, Financial Services Group, Professional Risk Solutions, Aon Risk Services Central, Inc.

Following the panel discussion, Mark Lesswing gave a presentation about the use of blockchain technology in real estate.
