The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is proposing regulations that would streamline how agencies conduct National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews of major federal actions. This proposal would modernize the federal environmental review and permitting process with the goal of increasing infrastructure investment and project development in a manner that strengthens our economy and enhances environmental stewardship.

In a recent meeting with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the CEQ and in a recent coalition letter, NAR urged CEQ to expeditiously proceed with revisions to modernize NEPA implementing regulations and ensure a more efficient, predictable, and effective approach to environmental permitting of infrastructure and development projects.
