On May 23, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed a modified version of a water infrastructure bill, the Water Resources Development Act, by voice vote. This legislation funds all types of critical national water infrastructure, including dams, levees, flood control structures, wastewater treatment facilities and making sure ports and inland wateways are operational. All of these water infrastructure projects support local and regional economies, create the foundation for job creation and real estate development and help maintain property values.
The Senate is expected to begin discussion of similar legislation soon.
