Course cover
Thanks to the wide variety of purchasing options, the Americas are full of opportunity when it comes to finding the right home. Out of the $153.0 billion of residential property purchased by foreign buyers last year, $28.3 billion came from Canada and Mexico alone. Both countries were also listed as one of the top five countries buying in the U.S., according the NAR’s 2017 Profile of International Activity in U.S. Residential Real Estate.

And buyers aren’t just coming to the U.S. from countries in the Americas, Americans themselves are trading up football for fútbol and moving abroad. Nine percent of REALTORS® reported working with clients who were interested in purchasing property overseas. Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Philippines, China, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Belize, France, and the Bahamas were the top countries of interest. Out of the eleven countries listed, five countries were from the Americas. These numbers show that cross-border transactions are happening all across the Americas.
