Work Group Purpose

To encourage and promote involvement and career development in the REALTOR® association management profession through recognition and education opportunities; to provide idea sharing and networking opportunities for younger AEs through the AE YPN Meet-ups at the AE Institute, REALTOR® Party Convention & Trade Expo, and Annual Conference; and host an annual event for AEs that will enhance the visibility and value of the AE YPN network.

Meeting Activity

The work group addressed the following initiatives.

  • AEC Committee pages on nar.realtor—The work group provided input on the committee information on nar.realtor to encourage greater involvement by new AEs and AE YPNs in work groups and committees on the national level.
  • AE Mentor Program—the work group recommended incorporating promotion of the AE Mentor program into the New AE Orientation to encourage new AEs to work with a mentor as they begin their career in REALTOR® association management.
  • REALTOR® University Association Management courses—Held a webinar to promote the courses aimed at association staff in their Association Management curriculum.
  • RPAC Involvement—The work group hosted an RPAC fundraiser in New Orleans and raised $1600 from attendee investments.  Through this RPAC major investor event the work group encouraged other AE YPN-ers to invest in RPAC and stressed the value in an annual commitment.  The fundraiser featured a drawing for three winners, with prizes including AEI tuition, lunch with AEC leadership and an AEI clothing item.

Next Steps

Chair Ryan Conrad and Vice Chair Mike Valerino look forward to continuing with these initiatives and taking on some new goals in 2015. The AE YPN Meet-Up will also continue in 2015 as an opportunity for YPN AEs to network and exchange information, possibly continuing as a RPAC fundraiser one to two times a year.
