NAR Supports HUD Secretary Designee

The Senate Banking Committee advanced the nomination of Representative Marcia Fudge to be the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. NAR had sent a letter supporting her nomination to the post. During her nomination hearing, Representative Fudge expressed support for new programs to support affordable housing, continued rental assistance to help renters and small landlords, and foreclosure assistance to homeowners. She also spoke about the need to expand the number of housing vouchers and the need for new construction of affordable homes. Lastly, she express interest in working on additional funding for housing counseling and advancing fair housing. Her nomination will next move to the Senate floor, where she is expected to be confirmed.
