Scott Louser, a REALTOR® from Minot, N.D., was the 2012 Vice President and Liaison to Government Affairs for the National Association of REALTORS®. NAR, The Voice for Real Estate®, is America’s largest trade association, representing 1.1 million REALTORS® involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
Louser, a REALTOR® for more than 14 years, is a broker / owner of Preferred Minot Real Estate, specializing in residential brokerage. He holds designations as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), and Accredited Buyers Representative Manager (ABRM). He is a Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource Certified (SFR) and a certified e-PRO.
Louser has served on NAR’s Board of Directors since 2002. He served on committees for Federal Taxation, MLS, Housing Needs, Research, Nominating and Risk Reduction, most recently as 2011 Chair of Risk Management. He served as Vice President for Region VIII including North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
At the state level, Louser was President of the North Dakota Association of REALTORS® in 2005, where he earlier served as President-Elect and Vice President. In 2006, Louser was selected as “REALTOR® of the Year” by his state peers. Louser is also a member of the state RPAC Hall of Fame, a Golden R and President’s Circle member and winner of the Claus Lembke Political Involvement Award in the state.
In 2002, Louser was president of the Minot Board of REALTORS®, having served earlier as President-Elect and Vice President. He has served on the Political Affairs Committee since 1998. Louser also served as chairman of the 2008 North Dakota/South Dakota State Convention.
Active in his community, Louser served on the Board of Directors of the Souris Valley United Way from 2006-2008, and the Minot State Alumni Association from 1999-2005. He is currently on the Board of Regents for Minot State University, and is a founding member of the local Young Professionals Network and multiple Minot Flood Recovery Housing Committees.
In addition to his real estate training, Louser received a master’s degree in business management from Minot State University in 2001. He also serves as a representative for District 5 in the North Dakota Legislature.
