WASHINGTON (April 21, 2023) – National Association of Realtors® President Kenny Parcell issued the following statement in response to this week’s Congressional hearing, “Breaking Barriers: Streamlining Permitting to Expedite Broadband Deployment”:

“NAR has been a longtime supporter of the dire need to expand broadband in this country, and we commend Congress for holding this hearing that discussed expedited deployment. The national broadband deployment will ensure all communities have affordable access to a world-class communications infrastructure in rural and low-income areas. Broadband access not only provides the opportunity for underserved communities to thrive, but it is also a factor that is needed to expand our economy, compete globally, and will ultimately create jobs for those communities and beyond.”

Today, NAR sent a letter to Congress thanking them for their hearing today on “Breaking Barriers: Streamlining Permitting to Expedite Broadband Deployment”. NAR supports policies that will increase access for Americans everywhere to an affordable, high-speed, world-class communications infrastructure. We continue to be encouraged by the recent positive steps taken by the Federal Communications Commission and the private sector to help our communications networks handle the increased demand for broadband. Looking forward, NAR will continue to support measures that will increase access to broadband capability for the entire United States.
