Realtor.com®, the only national real estate search engine where consumers can search for National Association of REALTORS® members, launched an enhanced profile product on Wednesday. The product, available as a subscription, gives real estate professionals a new avenue to market themselves as local experts in a crowded landscape.
These enhanced profiles have an eye-catching display in directory search results: They’re identified by a yellow border and are about double the size of a basic profile.

Another highlight is lead generation. Realtor.com® will continue to provide free leads to NAR members when consumers click “connect” on their profiles, regardless of whether the profiles are enhanced. The site provides nearly 2.5 million free leads this way every year.
But now, in addition to being able to connect directly with an agent listed in the directory, consumers viewing a basic profile will have the option of completing a lead form that is directed to realtor.com®’s referral networks. With Local Expert profiles, the lead information is sent only to that agent.
“Local Expert” subscribers also have the option to add sections to their profiles, such as services offered and Q&As. Profile videos, which used to be available on basic profiles, are now available only on enhanced profiles.
Make the Most of What’s Free
While enhanced profiles appear higher in search results, realtor.com® profiles are also ranked on robustness. That means the more completely agents fill out their basic, no-cost profile, the higher they will chart.
To make their no-cost profile more robust, agents can include past sales (when provided to realtor.com® by their MLS), ratings, and reviews to help attract potential clients. Agents can also highlight their experience and education. When agents claim their profile, it will automatically include information about their earned certifications and designations, provided by NAR.

A New Way to Search
Beginning Sept. 3, agents who are not NAR members will be viewable in realtor.com®’s professional search experience renamed “Find an Agent.”
While realtor.com® previously allowed agents who are not members to create free profiles on its website, links to these profiles appeared on a listing display page if that agent was the listing agent but were not discoverable in search. Nonmembers are now included in the site’s searchable professional database.
This change helps REALTORS® stand out in the market in two ways: First, NAR members will be differentiated with a block “R” and, all other factors being equal, given preferential placement in search results above non-members. Second, consumers will be able to filter their search to include only REALTORS®.
That’s significant because realtor.com® attracts approximately 72 million unique users each month, making it all the more important for agents to differentiate themselves.
Throughout its website, realtor.com® emphasizes the benefits of hiring an agent who is a REALTOR®—someone who adheres to a Code of Ethics, commits to the highest level of professionalism, and may hold specialized designations and certifications.
The company says this change is aimed at highlighting those qualifications to consumers.
