Winning Over Voters and Clients
Zac Bales-Henry, 29, is committed to his clients’ needs, but he has an extra say in the quality of life for everyone in his community. Last December, he became the youngest person elected to the city council in Windsor Heights, Iowa. Though he keeps his responsibilities as a broker-owner with 21 agents separate from his public duties, he’s passionate about local redevelopment projects, like sidewalks and bike paths. “We [REALTORS®] have a lot of tools that are favorable for a political career,” he says, crediting his local and national associations with supporting his run for office. His municipal duties don’t keep Bales-Henry from going some extra miles for clients. When contacted for this article, he was driving a moving truck 25 hours from Phoenix to Des Moines to help clients whose movers had suddenly bailed on them.
