Don’t ask Kristin Smith, 28, for a business card. She doesn’t carry them. Smith prefers friending people on Facebook, since the social media site continuously touches potential clients. “They are seeing me serve my community, serve my association, and sell homes,” she says. “If I can connect with them on Facebook, they are in constant contact with my brand: Me.” Smith says eating out has been another great way to expand her sphere. “I don’t keep food in my refrigerator. People look at me like I’m crazy when I say that, but I have never opened my refrigerator and gotten a lead,” she says. Her networking extends nationally; she’s on the National Association of REALTORS®’ Young Professionals Network Advisory Board. And Smith is not just selling; she’s also an investor. She has purchased five rental properties and is shooting for 20 before she turns 40.
