Emboldening Those Around Her

For Connie Chung, 28, her close connections with women affected by violence, especially those who sought protection at the domestic violence shelter where she previously worked, have led to a career built on securing safe housing and helping others cultivate financial independence. Empowering first-time buyers is her passion. Chung’s education at the University of California, Berkeley, which included classes in conflict resolution, negotiations, and public policy, have been valuable assets in her career—as was high-school wrestling. Much to the surprise of her family and friends, Connie joined the predominantly male wrestling team in high school and says she was the first female wrestler to pin an opponent. “That experience has helped shape my story—my drive, dedication, and tenacity.”
