Know Your ‘Why’
For Amanda Vang, 29, mindset is everything. “I put in the hard work, have a process and system, and understand my purpose and my ‘big why.’” That “why,” she says, is her family, and the desire to help families like hers discover the potential of homeownership.
Vang’s Hmong parents—who were displaced following the Vietnam War and spent several years in a refugee camp—immigrated to the U.S. from Laos in 1990. Early in life, Vang started breaking barriers facing Hmong girls who are expected to marry and have children at a young age. She learned to play the qeej, an instrument that is traditionally played by men during Hmong funerals. “I was rebellious growing up, but rebellious in the way of wanting a better future for myself.”
As one of nine children, Vang recalls her family’s struggle to make ends meet, which led her to pursue a career that offers financial independence. After graduating from college in 2016, Vang moved from Minnesota to California. She noticed new developments in the Bay Area and quickly realized there was opportunity in real estate. Now, seven years later, she is helping her diverse clientele build wealth. No question goes unanswered, and she aims to make the buying and selling process smooth and transparent.
“Being able to understand and service my clients at the highest level is going to give them the confidence to make decisions that change their lives in ways they have been waiting for.”
