Every day at 5:30 p.m., Alexander Parker, 28, steps back from work for his CrossFit class. He also plays in a basketball league. Committing to physical activities clears his mind and bolsters his energy for intense work days. “I used to do nothing but work, but you can’t burn yourself out,” says Parker, a self-taught kitchen designer. In addition to sales, he purchases and renovates properties, turning them into high-end student rentals. His target clients are affluent Florida State University students and their parents. That successful rental network has yielded investor clients as well. His highly disciplined approach to market analysis sets him apart. “The first 30 minutes [of my day] are reserved to study new inventory and sales from the past 24 hours,” Parker says. Being able to discuss up-to-the-minute inventory details gives him an impressive edge.
