Showings Down 3% Y/Y in May

May 2023 U.S. showings were down 3% year-over-year, with 759,401 showings, according to data from SentriLock, LLC., a lockbox company. The pace of showing activity has increased compared to last month, April 2023.

Sentrilock Cards Increased 5% Y/Y

Total U.S. SentriLock cards rose 5% year over year to 226,443. SentriLock cards, comprise of SentriKey® and SentriCard®, allow REALTORS® to access the Sentrilock® lockbox and is an indicator of the number of REALTORS® who conduct the showing.

Showings per Card Decreased by 8% Y/Y

The number of showings per card reflects the strength of buyer interest per listed property. At a national level, showings per car decreased by 8% year over year in May.

Regional Home Showings in May 2023

Three of Four Regions Saw Y/Y Showings Decrease

Three of the four regions saw a decrease in showings on a year-over-year basis in May: Northeast (-15%), Midwest (-10%), West (-4%). The South was up slightly (2%).

Y/Y Sentrilock Cards Increased in Two of the Four Regions

Cards on a y/y basis were up in the South (15%), followed by the Midwest (3%). Cards were down in the Northeast ( -9%), followed by the West, which was down (-1%).

Showings per Card Decreased in All Four Regions on a Y/Y Basis

All regions saw a year-over-year decrease in showings per card in May. The Midwest had the largest dip of (-12%) followed by the South with a decline of (-11%). The Northeast fell (-7%), followed by the West ( -3%) in May.
