RRF Recent Disaster Effort Results

The REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) continues to help communities by providing assistance to families in need after disaster strikes. Here are a few examples of what the Foundation has achieved over the past year.

  • For Hurricane Sandy: A voluntary cooperative effort with the New Jersey and New York state associations provided mortgage and temporary rental assistance to victims of the storm. Efforts began in Nov. 2012 and concluded in Dec. 2013. A total of $919,300 in financial assistance grants for this purpose was distributed to 666 families.

  • For the 2013 Illinois tornados and Colorado flooding: RRF helped facilitate voluntary cooperative efforts with the Illinois and Colorado state associations to provide mortgage and temporary rental assistance to victims of these disasters. These efforts began in Nov. 2013 and concluded in May 2014. A total of $366,400 was distributed to 343 affected families.

  • In June 2013, the RRF gave $50,000 to provide mortgage assistance to the families of the 19 firefighters killed in the Yarnell, Arizona, wildfire disaster.

  • In May 2014, the RRF gave $100,000 to the Arkansas Association of REALTORS® Hearts & Home Foundation to help them carry out a mortgage/temporary rent assistance effort for victims of the EF4 tornados that hit areas of Arkansas in late April.
