The purpose of the William D. North AE Institute Scholarship is to further the REALTOR® association management profession by funding three AEs who exhibit financial need and an initiative to pursue professional growth opportunities, to attend the Association Executives Institute.
Recipients will receive $1,000 for expenses, plus complimentary registration (a $560 value). Selection is based on financial need and initiative to pursue professional growth opportunities.
Who Is William D. North?
William D. North served as executive vice president of the National Association of REALTORS® from 1977 to 1991.
All paid local association chief executive officers can apply by completing the application form by the deadline. Applicants must be employed by their current association at least one year; NAR staff will verify this information before proceeding further with the application.
Consideration will be given to:
- Professional development
- Leadership experience
- Financial need
Applying for both a North Scholarship and a state association-sponsored AE Institute scholarship is strongly discouraged. NAR staff will contact state associations to avoid duplication.

Nominations for the 2018 scholarship are due on October 3, 2018. Selection shall be made by the AEC/Recommendations and Recognition Subcommittee during the 2018 REALTORS® Conference and Expo. If a recipient is unable to attend the Institute for which he/she was awarded a scholarship, he/she forfeits the scholarship. Scholarships must be used for the Institute for which they are intended.
