On December 10, the National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition, of which NAR is a member, convened a meeting with the Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt. The Secretary spoke and held a Q&A session for over 45 minutes with the group.
The discussion touched on several issues, including:
- Recent regulations on reforming the critical habitat designation process;
- Overall deregulatory efforts within the Department;
- Efforts to make the regulatory process more efficient and transparent; and
- Efforts to reform the guidance document process, and bring it in line with President Trump’s recent Executive Order on Guidance Documents.
The Secretary was aware of NAR’s interest in these issues, as he mentioned on a couple of specific occasional efforts the Department was taking to reduce regulatory burdens on housing and the real estate sector.
