On Wednesday May 11, 2022, the Senate voted to confirm Julia Gordon as the next Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). NAR supported Commissioner Gordon's nomination and previously sent a letterpdf in support. In addition, NAR President Leslie Rouda Smith issued the following statement after the confirmation:

“Julia Gordon’s accomplished career in real estate has prepared her to lead the FHA at a time when housing in America is at somewhat of a crossroads,” said Rouda Smith, a Realtor® from Plano, Texas, and a broker associate at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate in Dallas. “We congratulate Commissioner Gordon and commend Congress for finalizing her confirmation, as rising mortgage rates and persistent, nationwide inventory shortages make it critical to have strong leadership atop the agency. NAR looks forward to continuing our work alongside the FHA to address the country’s 6-million-unit gap in safe, affordable housing, particularly as it impacts communities of color, low- and middle-income Americans, and all first-time homebuyers.”
