FHFA Inspector General Reports on Mortgage Servicing Supervision

On March 7, 2012, the Federal Housing Finance Agency Office of Inspector General (FHFA-OIG) released a report on FHFA’s supervision of Freddie Mac. The report provides a detailed performance audit of FHFA’s oversight and supervisory control structures for monitoring mortgage servicing contractors. The audit recommends that FHFA: (1) enhance regulations and guidance to the enterprises on mortgage servicing contracting; (2) implements servicer performance metrics; and (3) improve coordination with other federal agencies with mortgage servicing oversight.
