The Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® not only donated $10,000 to build a local playground this past fall, but 17 member volunteers also donated time and energy to the construction. “We’re giving back,” said Dave Philp, president of the MAAR Foundation. “Where parks start is where communities start, so we’re going to have families playing out here for years to come.”

Helping the people of Flint, Mich., during their water crisis is the first initiative of the newly established Michigan Realtors® Relief Fund. “Many local associations in Michigan asked us what they could do to help the people of Flint,” says Joe Krass, communication director at the Michigan Association of REALTORS®. The association’s Board of Directors approved $10,000 toward relief efforts. “We will be working cooperatively with leadership at the East Central Association of REALTORS®, Mich., as well as state and local government officials, to best identify the most effective use of donations.” Contribute at mirealtors.com/relief-fund.
