Five members of the National Association of REALTORS® were named winners of the association's Good Neighbor Awards, which honors real estate professionals for their extraordinary community service.
Each winner will receive a $10,000 grant sponsored by Realtor.com, as well as national media exposure for their charity. They are:
Shawnee Doherty, Hope Through Hollis Foundation (Phoenix, Arizona): After losing her 7-year-old son, Hollis, to an aggressive pediatric brain cancer, Doherty turned her grief into a mission to support other families and fund research seeking a cure. Her foundation works with other family organizations to pool resources for research, while Doherty personally reaches out to families navigating a new diagnosis.
Sue Farrell, Boots to Suits (Richmond, Virginia): Farrell founded Boots to Suits after the death of her husband, a former Navy officer, inspired her to put his professional wardrobe to good use. Since 2014, the nonprofit has dressed 7,000 veterans, helping them make the transition from military service to civilian careers with professional clothing and personal styling.
Weston Jenkins, Disabled Outdoorsmen USA (Boerne, Texas): Inspired by his cousin TJ, who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Jenkins founded Disabled Outdoorsmen USA to make hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor adventures accessible to people with disabilities. The nonprofit handles the equipment, logistics and costs that might otherwise keep participants from experiencing nature.
Jay Miralles, 50 Mile March Foundation (Elkhorn, Nebraska): A U.S. Air Force veteran who once struggled with homelessness and loss of purpose himself, Miralles turned walking into a way to help other veterans find hope and connection. What began as six friends walking 50 miles has grown into the 50 Mile March Foundation, which raises awareness and support for veterans facing homelessness and mental health challenges.
Teresa Renkenberger, Shower Power (Brandon, Mississippi): After learning that a man experiencing homelessness hadn't showered in a year, Renkenberger outfitted a box truck with showers and began offering them free every Friday. Shower Power has since grown beyond showers to provide food, clothing, shelter and other services to people experiencing homelessness.
“This year’s Good Neighbor Awards winners saw a need in their communities and refused to look away,” NAR President Kevin Brown says. “Each of them has built something lasting out of compassion and determination. Their work shows that REALTORS® do far more than help people find a home. They help build the communities around it, and we’re honored to celebrate them.”
According to the association's 2026 CARE Report, 64% of REALTORS®, members of NAR, volunteer monthly and 84% made charitable donations in the last year.
The program also acknowledged the following five finalists who will each receive $2,500 grants for their charities:
- Dylan de Bruin, Children’s HopeChest: Orphans of Teso (Ankeny, Iowa)
- Eustace Payne Jr., Massachusetts Community Outreach Initiative (Plymouth, Massachusetts)
- Cord Shiflet, Cordonate (Austin, Texas)
- Debbie Sonenshine, Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta (Sandy Springs, Georgia)

During a 3.5-week period, the public was encouraged to cast their vote for their favorite finalist. Three web choice favorites were selected; as the crowd favorite Jay Miralles will receive a bonus $2,500 and runners-up Dylan de Bruin and Eustace Payne, Jr. will receive an extra $1,250.
