2026 MLS Technology and Emerging Issues Advisory Board Chair shares a first-person perspective on sunsetting the committee and how the association will leverage the expertise of its advisors to enhance the MLS ecosystem.
AEI Year-Round: The .RealEstate Relaunch: New Digital Branding Benefits for Associations and REALTORS®

The National Association of REALTORS® is furthering its support of the multiple listing service (MLS) ecosystem.

We are doing this by sunsetting the committee I have the privilege of leading, the MLS Technology and Emerging Issues Advisory Board. This change enables our considerations regarding MLS decisions to be more comprehensive, more nimble, more flexible and more targeted to our diverse set of MLS stakeholders.

The MLS Issues and Policies Committee will assume the work of the MLS Technology and Emerging Issues Advisory Board, and the committee will assemble ad hoc working groups as issues emerge. These groups will be issue-driven and responsive to real-time market dynamics. It’s the right model to gather the right expertise at the right time, ensuring MLS-related developments continue to receive focused, timely attention without interruption.

The new expertise profiles NAR introduced in this year committee application process allow committee leadership to better tap into members’ knowledge. These profiles serve as an expertise database where we can quickly identify niche proficiencies across a variety of skilled and engaged NAR members. Specifically, the MLS Issues and Policies Committee leadership will now be able to tap into current members, known issue experts, and this broader data set to assemble the most qualified group of advisors.

These ad hoc groups complement NAR’s larger commitment to MLS support, including producing guidance on MLS policies, outreach to all MLS executives during times of market shifts, consulting the MLS Executives Group to ensure active and regular engagement with the MLS executive community, and engagement with various stakeholder groups like real estate license law officials, CMLS, RESO, MLS technology providers and other vendors and MLS attorneys.

As NAR continues to evaluate committee structure as part of the Strategic Plan, I look forward to further consolidation that will strengthen our governance, increase efficiencies and ensure NAR can remain as dynamic as the real estate industry.
