The largest local REALTOR® organization is poised to get a whole lot bigger.
Miami Association of Realtors®, the largest local association, and Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® (RWorld), the third largest, announced their plans to merge their associations and multiple listing services on Monday.
A combined 93,000 members would make them larger than 47 state REALTOR® associations, according to their combined press release. For context, the largest state association is Florida REALTORS® with more than 238,000 members and the next largest local association after this transaction would be the Houston Association of REALTORS® with roughly 50,000 members.
“Two of the strongest MLS and REALTOR® organizations in the U.S. are now one, building on South Florida’s momentum as a global real estate powerhouse and shaping the industry’s next frontier,” Alfredo Pujol, chairman of the board for Miami Association of REALTORS® said. “This is a win for South Florida, our 93,000 collective members and their clients. Our members will have broader, more fluid access to the data, tools and services they need—without the limitations or complexity of multiple memberships. Ultimately, this will allow South Florida REALTORS® to deliver an even higher level of service.”
The pair of associations have created a website dedicated to the merger, where they share member cost savings from no longer needing to join multiple associations or MLSs. They also spotlight greater regional alignment as another benefit of unifying.
They anticipate the merger will be completed on May 11. The new association’s name will be the Miami and South Florida REALTORS®, pending NAR approval.
