In this episode of the podcast, CEO Tiffany Banks explains how leadership development, innovation and a growth mindset are transforming Nevada REALTORS®, and what agents can do now to stay competitive.

At Nevada REALTORS®, leadership development isn’t a program, it’s a strategy. And for CEO Tiffany Banks, it’s the foundation for building a stronger, more future-ready association.

In the latest episode of the “NAR REALTOR® News Change Agents” podcast, Banks shares how this philosophy delivers initiatives that develop leaders at every stage.

The state association’s Leadership Academy—now more than 20 years old—centers on both personal and professional growth, creating a pipeline of engaged, empowered members. But what’s unique is that the goal goes beyond career advancement, emphasizing self-awareness and confidence.

“How are we able to cultivate these leaders is to get whatever’s going on in their personal life on track so that when they step into these roles, they feel very empowered to be the best version,” she says.

Volunteer leaders recruit and encourage future talent—a mentorship system that applies across the real estate industry. “When you’re on your leadership journey, you don’t want to think about replacing yourself, but that is part of being a leader,” Banks says.

From Legal Foundation to Leadership Vision

Banks’ approach to leadership is rooted in a career that spans law, policy and high-pressure decision-making environments. Before becoming CEO in 2023, she spent more than a decade as general counsel, an experience that shaped how she leads today.

“It really didn’t feel like a single leap. It really felt like a natural evolution built over time,” she says. “What really changed was the perspective. So you move from advising to owning the outcome.”

That shift from advisor to decision-maker required balancing respect for the organization’s history with a clear-eyed view of what needed to change. That intentionality carries into how Nevada REALTORS® approaches innovation and member value. “When you think about innovation, to us, it’s really about being thoughtful. So not just new for the sake of new, but meaningful for our members,” she says.

A key part of that shift has been reframing how the organization communicates the value of real estate professionals. “We represent the consumers,” Banks says. “Although we represent the REALTORS®, our members, we advocate fiercely for every consumer.”

That perspective has led to more consumer-focused storytelling that highlights the role agents who are REALTORS® play not just in transactions, but in guiding major life decisions.

The Nevada association is also rethinking how it brings members together. Its second annual Envision Summit in Las Vegas is designed to move beyond traditional formats, creating more dynamic, conversation-driven experiences. The goal is to offer something for everyone—from new agents to seasoned brokers—through a shared day of learning.

On the advocacy front, Banks is pushing forward on communicating the impact of the association’s work through broker visits and social networks. “We’re seeing real challenges around supply and affordability, and those challenges ripple through everything,” she says.

A Mindset for What’s Next

Banks says reinvention has been a recurring theme throughout her career—though not always a comfortable one. From transitioning out of law to stepping into leadership roles and even competing as Mrs. Nevada America, each shift has required her to stretch beyond her comfort zone. The key, she says, isn’t becoming someone new but expanding who you already are and leaning into what drives you and being willing to take risks. Growth, she adds, often comes just on the other side of discomfort.

Looking ahead, she believes adaptability and reinvention will define success for both agents and associations.

“I think that adaptability is really going to be everything,” she says. “The real estate professionals who succeed will be the ones who stay curious and are willing to grow.”

For agents, the takeaway is immediate and practical: “Get really clear on your value. So not in a general way, but really specific. So what do you do that truly helps your clients?”

Because ultimately, clarity builds confidence and confidence builds trust.
