On Thursday, May 16, I had the pleasure of meeting the fantastic women leaders in the commercial real estate industry. It was a great meeting during the 2019 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo with Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Global President Barbara Crane, CCIM Institute COO Gail Collins, and Florida CCIM's Past-President Chere R. Roane, where we discussed the national mentorship program, collaboration with residential NAR members, and advancing women in commercial real estate.

Florida has had a successful CCIM Mentorship Program in place in the last several years. In fact, I am a product of the Mentorship Program, which was instrumental in helping me transition from residential to commercial real estate. The idea of a national mastermind program for CCIM designees is definitely worthy of exploration.

There are many areas where commercial and residential NAR members can collaborate. Smart growth is an example of where both industry sectors could join forces in local advocacy efforts considering the imminent impact of Qualified Opportunity Zones in our communities. Global real estate is another. We look forward to furthering discussions.

NAR has recently started promoting women in commercial real estate. I look forward to seeing more women pursue the premier CCIM designation and take a larger part in the pursuit of excellence in commercial real estate.
