People First

Moses Hall, 28, is a musician who attended LaGuardia High School, the “Fame” school, in New York, then moved to the Windy City to earn an entertainment and media management degree from Columbia College Chicago. Aspiring to be the next Diddy or Jay-Z, he rented a loft after graduation that doubled as a rehearsal space for his band, Harmonious Dynasty. He also rented the space to other musicians, photographers, and filmmakers; that’s when commercial real estate entered his vision. Hall pivoted into real estate in 2014 “to elevate underserved communities,” he says. He’s part of an all-minority investment group that has brought more quality affordable housing and retail to Chicago’s South and West sides. In January, Hall launched his own brokerage. “We tend to base our success on the number of deals we close,” he says. “However, I base my success on the lives I change.”
