Mental Health Advocate
College brought me to North Carolina, and I instantly fell in love with the state. I obtained my B.A. in business administration and accounting from Barton College. Because real estate is your own personal business, I consistently use what I learned in both, business administration and accounting, to help run my business smoothly with documentation, numbers, taxes, and so on.
I wanted to obtain my real estate license originally to be a commercial broker. At the time, I was the director of operations at a commercial firm from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then would go straight to Pan School of Real Estate in Raleigh from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. every weeknight in order to obtain my real estate license. Once I received my license, I quickly realized that I truly loved residential sales more than commercial and made the switch.
I have loved getting to know my clients on a personal level to find them their dream home and help them with their next chapter in life.
One thing I would change about the real estate industry is handling mental health. Agents are known to hustle for business and to keep going with no days off until we burn out. I would normalize the importance of mental health for agents and protecting a work-life balance with still being the best agent they can be. To fully take care of others, you have to take care of yourself first.
