“Answer your phone. People are relieved to get a live voice.”
What makes him special: It’s not just his name that sounds as if it were plucked from an episode of “Dynasty.” It’s his life. Shiflet racked up $25 million in sales last year, selling properties in Austin’s exclusive Tarrytown and Lake Austin neighborhoods, among others.
High-end properties call for high-end parties: Shiflet hires caterers, harpists, and ice sculptors to introduce his luxury listings to the community. Sellers love the exposure, and top salespeople love to network at his parties. Shiflet also uses aerial photography to bring attention to his marketing. “Everyone uses front shots of homes, but my aerials catch people’s attention,” he says.
A commitment to the solo approach: Shiflet is one top producer who rejects the team approach. “Clients are paying a large commission to get my service and knowledge, not an assistant’s.” Shiflet generates a lot of business thanks to his passion for Austin high culture. He’s a board member of Ballet Austin and a volunteer for the Austin Lyric Opera. He also volunteers time at a local women’s shelter and with the Rotary Club.
