Protecting the REALTOR® Brand Starts With You

The REALTOR® marks are federally registered trademarks that identify members of the National Association of REALTORS® and represent a commitment to professionalism and a strict Code of Ethics. Protecting these marks helps preserve their value—and the value of membership—for all REALTORS®.

If you believe the REALTOR® marks are being misused, please use the Trademark Infringement Form to report a potential trademark infringement.

Why Reporting Matters

NAR has a legal obligation to monitor and protect its trademarks. When the REALTOR® marks are used improperly or without authorization, their meaning and strength can be weakened.

By reporting potential misuse, you help:

Protect the integrity of the REALTOR® brand
Ensure the marks are used only by authorized members
Preserve the value and credibility of NAR membership
Maintain clear distinctions between REALTORS® and non members

What Should Be Reported

You may submit this form to report:

Use of REALTOR®, REALTORS® or the REALTOR® logo by non members
Improper or misleading use of the REALTOR® marks by members or third parties
Incorrect formatting, descriptive use or branding that violates NAR trademark rules
Online misuse, including websites, social media accounts, usernames, email campaigns or digital ads
Offline misuse, including flyers, radio spots, magazine ads, billboards, and television ads

If you’re unsure whether a use is permitted, it’s okay to report it—NAR Legal Affairs will review the submission.

What Happens After You Submit

All reports are reviewed by NAR Legal Affairs as part of the Trademark Protection Program. Submitting a report does not automatically result in enforcement action. Each case is evaluated based on NAR’s trademark rules and applicable law.
