Eighty-two percent of homeowners say they are more interested in updating their outdoor living spaces now than they were prior to the pandemic, according to the 2021 Outdoor Living Report, produced by Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens. The report, based on a survey of more than 2,000 consumers, identifies several elements in outdoor spaces that are among the highest in demand, including:

Outdoor kitchens

65% of respondents aged 35 to 44 ranked a full outdoor kitchen as “very important” if they were designing an outdoor space.

Firepits

66% of homeowners cited a firepit as an important feature in their outdoor living space.

Cozy and Warmth

Fifty-three percent of homeowners cited outdoor heating as an important feature enabling them to use their outdoor spaces throughout the year.

Bar space

Forty-two percent of homeowners reported that having an outdoor bar is an important feature for their outdoor space.

Plentiful seating

Eighty-three percent of respondents said that the right amount of seating is crucial for the enjoyment of their outdoor spaces.
