Bill Armstrong was the 2013 Treasurer of the National Association of REALTORS®. NAR, The Voice for Real Estate®, is America’s largest trade association, representing 1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
Armstrong has been a REALTOR® for over 30 years. He is the vice president of Mackintosh REALTORS®, in Frederick, Md., working in land, residential and commercial brokerage.
Before assuming the role as Treasurer, Armstrong served on the NAR Finance Committee for 10 years. In 2010, he served as its Vice Chair. He was involved in the work group that screened and selected a vendor to finance the Washington, D.C. building. As the Vice Chair for the Reserves Investment Sub Committee in 2009, he was intimately involved in developing and funding projects such as Sentrilock, 2nd Century Ventures, LLC, REALTORS® Federal Credit Union, REALTORS® Property Resource, House Logic, and Docusign®.
Armstrong played an instrumental role in the formation of the Association Investment Program. A proponent of the REALTOR® Party, he is also a 14-time major donor for RPAC and will be inducted into the RPAC Hall of Fame in 2013.
The Maryland Association of REALTORS® elected Armstrong as President in 2000. He was the founding chairman of MAR’s Partnership for Housing Foundation. He also served as the Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland.
For his local association, the Frederick County Association of REALTORS® (FCAR), Armstrong served as President in 1994.
Armstrong is very active in the local community. As co-chair of the Recognition and Fundraising Committee for ARC of Frederick County, he helped raise nearly $300,000 for adults and children with disabilities. He continues to serve on the Johns Hopkins University Real Estate Advisory Board for the Carey Business School, a position he has held for over 10 years.
Armstrong attended East Carolina University, where he majored in business with a concentration in real estate. He is also a Graduate from the REALTOR® Institute (GRI). Armstrong and his wife, Pamela, live in Damascus, Maryland. They have three children.
