The Congressionally-mandated deadline for the FAA to complete integration of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) into the national air space came and went on September 30, 2015. The FAA's proposed rule that was published in February 2015 remains the most recent rulemaking action from the FAA on UAS integration, while the agency continues to churn out Section 333 waivers.

NAR sent a letter to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta noting the missed deadline, but praising the FAA for its work on the issue so far. NAR reiterated its position of partnership with the FAA, and its willingness to work with the FAA to further educate NAR members about UAS regulations and safety.

Meanwhile, the FAA is approaching 2,000 Section 333 waivers granted for commercial use. Please visit www.nar.realtor to see the edited list containing real estate and marketing operators.
