FHA Delays Handbook Implementation Date

On April 30, 2015, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) announced that it will delay implementation of the Single Family Housing Policy Handbook for 90 days.  The policies in the new handbook will now be effective for case numbers assigned on or after September 14, 2015.

In early April, NAR sent a letter to FHA asking for a delay in the implementation of the Handbook.  NAR commends FHA for giving lenders and appraisers more time to thoroughly review any policy changes and ensure systems are in place to properly implement the Handbook.
