WASHINGTON (July 21, 2026) – The National Association of REALTORS® released its second quarterly update on the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan today. The update shows how the association’s work is protecting members’ businesses, expanding access to resources and guidance, and reinforcing the value of NAR membership.
“NAR’s responsibility, executed through our Strategic Plan, is to deliver strong advocacy, clear guidance and applicable tools to help you serve your clients, grow your business and lead in your communities,” said NAR CEO Nykia Wright.
This quarter's report highlights progress across seven priorities:
- Amplifying lobbying impact through coalition building
NAR led passage of the most significant federal housing package in nearly 20 years into law through a nationwide advocacy campaign. NAR’s role in this passage will address supply and affordability challenges. - Collaborating with MLSs to ensure market transparency
The association published practical guidance and resources for MLSs and members and championed the MLS system by bringing together industry partners to submit letters to the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the U.S. Copyright Office. The guidance increases clarity around MLS policies, and the letters support a transparent, pro-competitive housing marketplace. - Securing legal momentum and elevating brand protection
Reduced legal uncertainty, including reaching a major strategic settlement in the Tuccori homebuyer commission case and several court dismissals involving challenges to NAR’s membership and MLS structure. The Tuccori settlement has received preliminary court approval and, if granted final approval, the settlement would give members, state and local associations, MLSs, and eligible brokerages protection from potential copycat lawsuits without requiring new business practice changes. - Strengthening broker engagement with targeted programming and resources
Enhanced how NAR listens and responds to broker needs, by deploying new broker-specific resources, business tools, advocacy forums, and direct outreach designed to help brokers strengthen operations and generate business. - Modernizing technology infrastructure and data capabilities
Delivered new market intelligence tools and strengthened member data to help members make more informed business decisions, better serve clients, and stay competitive in a data-driven real estate market. - Modernizing governance through strategic committee reform
Continued to make governance more effective and efficient by implementing a new application process that better aligns member expertise with leadership opportunities and simplifying committee structure to create a stronger leadership system. - Evolving education to fit real world needs
Modernized REALTOR® education through stakeholder-driven curriculum improvements, -migration to a new learning management system and more accessible, relevant professional development opportunities that will give members easier access to high-quality, modern learning that helps them build skills, meet rising professional standards, and strengthen the trust that sets REALTORS® apart.
“The goal is simple: clearer information, more useful resources and stronger support to help you run your business and serve your clients in today’s market,” Wright said.
Looking ahead, NAR will continue this work through more role-specific programming at NAR NXT, the launch of its new Learning Management System and an increased commitment to professionalism.
