The decision now rests with members of the San Antonio and Four Rivers associations.

Two neighboring local REALTOR® associations in Texas announced their intention to merge on April 14.

The board of directors for both the Four Rivers Association of REALTORS®—which includes Caldwell, Comal, Gonzales, Guadalupe and Hays Counties—and the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® signed a merger agreement; however, the decision ultimately rests on a greenlight from its members, of which there’s about 1,600 and more than 13,000 respectively.

Over the next weeks, the associations will finalize what joining forces looks like in terms of operations, finances and governance structures, a joint press release said. After that, members of the two boards will have the chance to vote.

Should members approve, the last step would be ratification by the National Association of REALTORS®.

The move is aimed at amplifying advocacy efforts, expanding education and professional development, increasing networking and collaboration, strengthening operational efficiencies and member services, and providing broader support.
