Chalk 2026 up as a record-breaking year for REALTOR® Volunteer Days! During NAR’s sixth annual event, which took place May 30–June 7, about 300,000 NAR members served their communities. Popular projects included cleaning parks and beaches, packing food, building and repairing housing, walking shelter dogs and doing a wide variety of good deeds that demonstrate how REALTORS® strengthen their communities. One in five NAR members, or 21%, volunteered in this year’s event, up from 8% participating in 2025.
In a survey conducted by NAR’s Research Team, 47% of respondents said they volunteered for three or more hours, and the average time spent was 1.9 hours.
That equates to more than a half million hours of volunteer service benefitting a wide range of Americans, including families, children, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and those experiencing homelessness. Projects reached people who live in every kind of community from rural areas to small towns to big cities.
Nearly 500 local and state REALTOR® associations (41%) hosted volunteer projects, spotlighted members who give back and contributed to causes for people in need. On average, the associations that hosted volunteer projects held five in-person events, and 40% of these associations held more than five events.
Associations typically encouraged members to wear REALTOR® T-shirts and then posted photos on social media, which generated a high volume of compelling social media activity. Volunteer projects often are featured in local hometown news coverage, which spotlights the REALTOR® difference.
This year, NAR also surveyed broker-owners and found that 80,000 of them (24% of member broker-owners) supported the event through hosting volunteer projects or recognizing volunteer work by their agents and staff.
