“When we land a subdivision, we create a fully interactive Web site for it.”

What makes him special: In 2002 Buckmaster clinched the biggest sale in the county to date—400 acres for $7.4 million, all cash. About 60 percent of his revenues derive from land sales. All told, he closed almost $34 million in sales in 2002.

A successful relocation: Buckmaster discovered Montana’s Flathead Valley, a burgeoning resort and residential area, seven years ago while driving across the country. He relocated from Orlando, Fla., and set out to make a name for himself among local developers and planners.

How he makes the big deals: He offers developers a package deal—everything from finding the land to marketing and sales. In the case of the 400-acre parcel, Buckmaster helped the seller, a developer, expedite the entitlement process and site preparation.

Getting sales off the ground: Buckmaster’s diverse marketing approach includes billboards, airport displays, and radio advertising. “I even have a sign on my boat that displays our logo,” he says.
