Upping Her Game
As a kid, Janice Spearbeck, 26, preferred team sports over golf. “I was too cool for golf,” she quips. Eventually, she came to love the game—and find commonalities with her business. “In both, you have so many things going on at once, and you’re always thinking two shots ahead,” she adds. Licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., she juggles paperwork and regulations from all three jurisdictions. Still, Spearbeck manages to hit the greens a few times a month, a key part of her work-life balance. Though she speaks little Spanish, she’s joined the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals to develop strong alliances in the growing Latino market. “I wanted to be connected with strong partners who could help my Spanish-speaking clients to fully understand the real estate process.”
