Love them or hate them, gnomes are the biggest garden trend of 2022, according to a new study from Atlas Ceramics, the creators of the Garden Trends Index. The company analyzed annual Google searches, Instagram posts, and TikTok data to identify the hottest garden trends of the summer.

Garden gnomes moved up from fifth place in last year’s study. The trend had 9 million views on TikTok and saw a nearly 11% jump in Google searches over the last two years, the study shows.

Coming in at number two on the list: urban gardening. The trend involves creating a garden in a smaller space, such as growing produce in places like balconies or windowsills. Urban gardening had the most Instagram posts in the study and fetched 25 million views on TikTok.
