Bill Malkasian, CAE, was the Chief Advocacy Officer/Senior Vice President of the Advocacy Group at the National Association of REALTORS® until his retirement in October, 2020.

Bill directed a team of lobbyists, legislative, and regulatory policy analysts. Additionally, he directed the political operations of NAR consisting of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee, regional political directors, and public issue advocacy. Bill also led all aspects of the REALTOR® Party, which provides grants and services to state and local REALTOR® Associations to support candidates and issues supporting the REALTOR® principles; and engage in community outreach projects that impact real estate in their communities. As the Chief Advocacy Officer, Bill ensured the REALTOR® voice was heard at all levels of government – in Congress, in State Legislatures, and at the city and county levels. He also worked to engage REALTORS® in advocacy, from investments in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee to responding to Calls for Action, to engaging in community development. The National Association of REALTORS® along with state and local REALTOR® Associations advocacy programs enjoy a stellar reputation of strong grassroots, political engagement, and community activism.

Bill previously held the position at NAR of Vice President of Political Strategic Planning to drive the REALTOR® Party initiative, which was designed to expand the REALTOR® influence beyond national politics to the state and local level. Bill worked with state and local associations to develop tailored programs that will grow community involvement and political leadership.

Prior to joining NAR, Bill was the CEO at the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association for 35 years.

Bill resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife, Michelle, and their beloved dog, Hazel. Bill's grown children, Joe and Megan, live in Wisconsin.
