VA Exceptions to Allowable Fees

On Nov. 7, 2014, the Department of Veterans Affairs issued new guidance that allows veterans to negotiate the payment of wood destroying insect inspection fees in select southern and western states.  NAR and VA continue to work together to find ways to improve the loan process for Veterans.  NAR has urged VA to allow buyers to negotiate the payment of certain fees, such as pest inspections.  While pest inspection fee payments will not be allowed in all states, this policy change is a step in the right direction.  NAR will continue to work with the VA on a larger rule affecting Veterans’ ability to negotiate fees and charges.
