Locals Launch Home Buyer Grant Program

The Silicon Valley and the Santa Clara County associations of REALTORS® are using a $100,000 grant from the California Association of REALTORS® Housing Affordability Fund to aid first-time home buyers in their area. Through the grant, first-time home buyers can receive up to $5,000 toward their closing costs. Because of the extraordinary cost of housing—where the median price of a single-family home is about $1.1 million—the grant program is attracting a lot of positive press for the associations. “We are extremely excited to contribute to the affordable housing efforts in a community where affordable housing is almost non-existent,” the associations said in a statement.
