CHICAGO (November 7, 2025) – The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) today announced the appointment of David Conroy as its first-ever Chief Data Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategy & Innovation, marking a major milestone in NAR's ongoing digital transformation and reinforcing its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance member value.
In this newly created role, Conroy will guide enterprise-wide data strategy, unify disparate technology and data functions, and scale internal systems to better support NAR's mission and members. He will oversee data governance, systems integration, and innovation delivery across the organization. Conroy will start at NAR in early January.
"Data is one of NAR's most important strategic assets – and the way we structure and use it will shape where our association goes next," said Nykia Wright, CEO of NAR. "David's vision, leadership, and track record of transformational technology work will help deepen our analytic capabilities, streamline operations, and drive innovation in ways that give our members a strategic advantage."
Most recently, Conroy served as Chief Technology Officer at the California Association of REALTORS®, where he led the technology strategy, architecture, and product roadmap for one of the largest state REALTOR® associations. In that role, he drove modernization of legacy systems, consolidated platforms for improved member services, and steered cross-organizational data alignment efforts.
"David's appointment represents a critical turning point for NAR," said Mark Birschbach, NAR's Executive Vice President of Strategic Business, Innovation & Technology. "The Chief Data Officer role will help us better integrate our technology platforms, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and accelerate the innovation that keeps our members competitive. David's deep understanding of both our systems and our strategic priorities makes him uniquely qualified to lead this work."
This role is a bit of a return for Conroy, who earlier served as NAR's Director of Technology & Innovation. In that role, he researched cutting-edge and emerging technologies and their potential impact on real estate. Before NAR, he led engineering and architecture functions at Consensys Meridio, and he previously served as Director of Information Technology at the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®.
"As real estate enters an era of accelerating technology change, having a unified, purposeful data and innovation agenda is essential," Conroy said. "I'm honored to lead this work at NAR, collaborating across teams to ensure that our platforms, infrastructure, and insights empower our members and help shape the future of real estate."
