WASHINGTON (December 15, 2021) – National Association of Realtors® President Leslie Rouda Smith issued the following statement after Alanna McCargo was confirmed by Congress to be the president of Ginnie Mae:

"The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) applauds Congress for its confirmation of Alanna McCargo to be President of Ginnie Mae," said Rouda Smith. "The confirmation of McCargo is encouraging, as there was a need for clear leadership at Ginnie Mae. The market is bracing for the impact of waning pandemic-related income and housing support that will impact federally-backed mortgage borrowers. Her knowledge of housing issues and her extensive experience will be of great value to Ginnie Mae and future homeowners from across the country.

"NAR looks forward to working closely with the newly confirmed president and Ginnie Mae as we continue to address barriers in the current state real estate sector and work together to search for likeminded solutions to ensure the American dream remains available and accessible."

The National Association of Realtors® is America's largest trade association, representing more than 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
