The Safety Series: Basics New, Seasoned Agents Should Remember

Understand how you can fall into complacency about safety when you’re comfortable in your work routine

When real estate professionals develop a comfortable work routine, it’s easy to fall into patterns of practice that potentially could put you at greater risk. Host Tracey Hawkins asks a longtime real estate veteran as well as an agent who’s been in the business just under a year their impressions of missed opportunities to build and reignite safety awareness in the industry.

Meet the guests:

Renee Porsia

Renee Porsia is a licensed real estate agent in California and Pennsylvania with 23 years of experience in the business. Her main office is Realty ONE Group West in Laguna Niguel, Calif. Porsia, who has contributed safety articles to REALTOR® Magazine, calls herself a “disrupter” in the way she has developed her own safety policies for her business. She says she has taken the things that worked, tossed those that didn’t and put it all together to create a work ethic that is “genuinely and unapologetically me.”

Liana Stegall

Liana Stegall is an agent with Hallmark Properties in Woodburn, Ore. In the real estate business just under a year, Stegall purchased her first home at the age of 24. She says she has always been drawn to careers and activities that involve making a difference in the world, and one of her favorite aspects of her job is the opportunity to help people obtain homeownership and live their dreams. She describes her personality as “fun, positive, detail oriented, empathetic and intuitive.”
