Both my parents are first-generation immigrants to the United States. We grew up very humbly in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The first time I saw my father cry was when his younger brother was murdered; this was when I was 18 years old. Although I was personally sheltered as a child, I knew of my parents’ struggles and now appreciate everything they have done to put me in a position to be able to assist other people with achieving the American dream of homeownership. There is not a day I take for granted as I know how much people have struggled. I am learning daily to be a better person and leader for the people who surround me.
