In the small Connecticut county of Windham, Ryan Lajoie, AHWD, has been applying lessons he learned in academia to his real estate career. Lajoie studied industrial-organizational psychology, which offered him insights into “what makes people tick,” he says. Lajoie has found success transforming properties in need of repair into profitable investments. But the real measure of his success lies in the long-term relationships he’s built. Besides being active in the local association, he’s climbing the leadership ladder in the Lions Club and chairs the town’s economic development commission. Now, he’s working toward a broker’s license, following in the path of his mentor and broker, his mom.
